We’re amazed by the amount of technology that makes our daily life easier and hassle-free. With advancement in technology, car invention is growing by leaps and bounds. The auto industry is creating new technologies to stun us whether be it for entertainment, pure innovation, usefulness or simple safety.

Some of the car technology invention is truly exciting and will revolutionize not only the automotive field but will take human transportation to a new level. The new Mercedes E-Class is equipped with 10 ultrasonic sensors, a stereoscopic and an infrared camera, seven radar arrays.

Amazingly, most of our fantastical ides are on the horizon. The digital revolution is waiting to thrill us with six car inventions that we’ll change the way you drive car.

Hydrogen-powered car or fuel-cell car is the future of the automobile industry but the concept isn’t really new. They are fuel-efficient working on the simplest element i.e. Hydrogen, which doesn’t use gasoline or doesn’t pollute the air. It produces steam inside as a substitute of exhaust. Though, this technology idea is science-fiction but the concept of fuel-cell cars have been around since 19th century.

Several hydrogen cars are now made available on rent which include the BMW 745h, the Chevrolet Equinox and the Honda FCX.

Self-driving cars means the one that can drive itself but they’re closer to become reality. In US, Google has tested autonomous cars on 200,000 miles on highways and roads. Self-driving cars from Google can not only record images but can also fetch computerized maps, view road signs, search for alternative routes and see traffic signals before visible to a person.

By using radars, lasers and cameras, cars can find and process information of the surroundings faster than a human. Self-driven cars will have an option of platooning, where several cars drive close to each other and work as a unit. Platooning would reduce accidents as the cars would communicate with each other and react simultaneously.

The infotainment and navigation systems in the vehicles make car an expensive affair. The car comes with in-built smartphone screen loaded with apps and functionality. The phone can select car mode, block texts, enabled voice control, wide range of apps that can work in a car. You can download any app and sync it with your car for advanced controls.

Using the Bluetooth hands-free control, which can work as a headset and you can enable hands-free option to answer call. The smartphone will integrate with the car’s audio, speakers and microphone and you can end calls with a steering wheel button. Through Bluetooth integration, car can play media from the phone.

Airless Tires or non-pneumatic tires are tires that do not work on air pressure. Airless tires are composed of polyurethane foam used in wheelchairs and bicycles. As compared to pneumatic tires, airless tires can never go flat but are less found in reality.

Airless tires have great rolling resistance and create less suspension than air-filled tires. Michelin who coined the term Tweel have worked on the concept but the production version is not yet announced. Airless tires works best on construction vehicles because of the roughness design of the tires will create less vibration problems.



Airbags aren’t the new entrant in the automotive industry. We have heard about side airbags, curtain airbags, seat belts airbags, and knee airbags. You may not have it installed in your cars but they’re very much seen on the road. Mercedes came a new way to deploy airbags that works as an effective safety system. The car giant is testing airbags underneath the car that will stop a car before a crash.

The sensors in the airbags determine whether the collision is inevitable or not. The bags comes with a friction coating that slow the car down and force the stopping power of the car. The bags will also elevate vehicle up to 8 centimeters during hand braking or bumper-to-bumper crash.

Today, most modern cars come with GPS and in-car functionality to get you from A to B. While high-end cars even displays information on the windshield, but in the coming future cars would identify external objects in front of the car and display info on the windshield.

Integration of Augmented Reality will find objects and brings up information and indentify what they are. BMW has already installed windshield display which shows basic information, but augmented reality dashboards it yet to experimented. AR can also work for passengers. Toyota has tested the AR concepts for passengers that allow them to zoom in objects, identify objects and find the distance of obstacles through a touch-screen window.

So what’s store for future? Well, the answer is hard to explain because automobile industry is introducing new technology to make driving less painful. Inventions are currently being tested and we’re sure to see these innovations in the coming future. Some are made for safety; some are usability while some will give detailed information like never before.
