Head of YouTube Originals Alex Carloss announced the news through his blog, “We feel the time is right to make another important investment in our creators. That’s why we’ve decided to fund new content from some of our top creators, helping them not only fulfill their creative ambitions but also deliver new material to their millions of fans on YouTube. YouTube promised to help upcoming stars with new shows and formats with their theme “get your hands dirty.”
However, YouTube head didn’t disclose any further details on which show or channel they are investing to or how much money they are likely to spend in the initiative. YouTube is believed to be interested to start new show format instead of short videos that helped users rise to fame. It is rumored that YouTube is in talk with Hollywood producers for a 10-part series.
The Google’s sudden move to invest millions on top stars may be a tough response to its competitors who is eager to steal YouTube stars. It is reported that Facebook is assembling a specialist team to convince YouTube stars to post videos on the social giant. The company has promised funding to video creators and audience development in return to Facebook presence.
